The reason I refer to Faces Photography rather just calling it Portrait Photography is because I feel the need to differentiate between taking a picture of you that you’re going to like, and taking a picture of you that I’m going to like.
To me “Portrait Photography” is a service offered, akin to Wedding photography. It’s closer to say that I’m attempting to create an artwork; and I’m using your face to do it.
I’m not trying to please you; I’m trying to please me. That’s different. I’m not trying to flatter. I’m trying to take the best picture I can of how I see you.
If you approve of the finished article I’m pleased. If you don’t, well, never mind.
